Still tired and a bit disorientated we arrived in Barcelona on Sunday night, jumped in our hire car and navigated our way 2 hours north to Roses, Spain. The next morning we got to see Vega for the first time. It was a strange feeling, finally seeing something you feel you know intimately through discussion, photos and survey reports, but haven’t actually seen. You think you have done the right thing, but there is always that nagging doubt, and you don’t really know if you have until you get on board and make yourself at home..
Well, we love her. She is a beauty. A perfect size for the four of us and just right for our trip. She probably needs a bit more work than we anticipated, but then thats half the fun! So, in short, we are ecstatic. Through the purchse process my parents had acted as our eyes and ears on the ground and consequently felt a huge sense of responsibility over the purchase and if we hadn’t liked her they would have been mortified…needless to say they were VERY relieved to receive the call saying we loved her!
Work getting Vega ready for her voyage has already begun in earnest. We have given her a thorough clean out – from bilges to cabin top and bow to stern. The last owners had Vega for 15 years and she was full of old and obsolete stuff we have removed and now she is looking pretty good inside and we can commence with the real work of fitting her out!
